Robert Walden works in Red Hook, Brooklyn and specializes in drawing.  Ontology, serendipity and mapping are key themes that surface throughout Walden’s intricate ink depictions.  Lines wander disparately across blank space of paper while suggesting roads and landscape.  These maps reflect a delineated, controlled process of intellectual exploration.

Ontological Roadmap 062010 (2010) measures 38-inches square and features a cluster of orange lines that fan out from the left side of the picture plane, extending into a space of empty solitude on the right.  A completely different perspective is captured in Ontological Roadmap 070210. (2010)

Robert Walden’s drawings will soon appear in a group show at the Muriel Guépin Gallery in Brooklyn, opening on September 16, 2011.  His last solo show appeared at RHV Fine Art in 2010.  Since 2008, Walden’s work has been seen in London, Portugal, Philadelphia, Boston and Atlanta. In 2012 Robert Walden’s work was featured in Map as Art at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City. His drawings regularly appear in the annual Visual AIDS Benefit.
