Adam Peiffer

Adam Peiffer manipulates physicality and flesh after mastering figuration in painting and drawing with a classical approach to anatomy, form, concept, proportion and composition. He exploits ideologies of adventure and eccentricity through the human body. He distorts physical attributes to illuminate mental conditions or particular fates, rendering characters who confront the psychological unknown. Moreover, Peiffer sets narratives in environments where reality converges into the subconscious.

He paints a palpable portrayal of a common person who finds him- or herself with no focus or aim but with a simple desire to have an experience. In this body of work, the figures wander towards a destination of which they may never reach. There is a dark, eerie undertone given by the scale of the figures to its surroundings. Through a process of several stages, his motif emerges from shapes and texture, with a palette appearing to contradict the sense of fear. The environments are not necessarily inviting or appealing; however there is a sense of nostalgia.

Peiffer currently lives and works in the Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Born in New London, CT, he had remained in Connecticut to study painting at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Lyme. After graduation, Peiffer pursued a career in art and moved to New York City, where he immediately began working in at Jeff Koons studio in Chelsea. Simultaneously, he persisted to produce his own body of paintings, which he exhibited at the Rodger Lapelle Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, as well as in group shows in Manhattan and the greater metropolitan region.
